Gymkhana Union Body is the official body to look after overall students activity at NIT Silchar. The members are officially elected after a proper election system in the institute itself by the whole student fraternity of NIT Silchar.
The Gymkhana Students' Union Body of National Institute of Technology Silchar comprises the office bearers of the institute, who are elected by the students on an annual basis. The Gymkhana serves majorly as the very voice of the students, besides being responsible for the organization and conduction of several events, workshops and fests in the college. The Dean of students' welfare sits atop the Gymkhana as its President. The other members include the General Secretary, the Vice-President, the General Secretary Cultural, the General Secretary Technical and the General Secretary Sports. These constitute the senior Gymkhana members. The heads of the several clubs and societies make up the junior Gymkhana.

1. Gymkhana Council coordinates all the activities of the Gymkhana such as framing the budget, exercising financial control, instituting and declaring awards.
2. It forms and monitor any sub-committees, clubs/shells or societies or disband the existing ones and when necessary with the approval of the competent authority.
3. It has three major divisions e.g., cultural committee , sports committee, and hostel affairs committee.
4. The Gymkhana Council, towards the end of its tenure prepares an annual report of its activities accounts etc. Our goal is to bring overall development in NITians through cultivating and nurturing their extra-curricular talents.
